Malcolm is a 58 year old man who is a civil servant. He has recently been on a 3 month course of prednisolone for polyarthralgia.
He speaks to you after visiting the GP 5 days ago complaining of pain in the left side of his face.
He was then diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia and prescribed a small dose of Carbamazepine. He is concerned that he is having an allergy to the carbamazipine as he has developed a rash on his face – itchy and painful.
You ask Malcolm to email a photo of the rash to you.
