Management

When managing GORD it helps to know the cause and the effect on the patient clinically.

The two links below take you to some excellent information and videos explaining GORD.

For gastric conditions, patients can also complain of burning pain as has Gail – if it is chronic it can be useful to ask her to keep a pain diary.

Pain in a particular area can also affect surrounding muscles, nerves and tissue. So in essence, pain information (locality, type, length of episodes, what makes it better/worse, does the pain go anywhere else) can actually tell you a wealth of information, leading to possible causes and in an acute emergency situation this could be life saving.
