I like to think of myself as a rolling stone that gathered plenty of moss — but in my case, that moss is made up of 42 years in the NHS, 30 years in higher education, and 36 years as both a mum and a carer. Every twist and turn in that journey has given me wisdom, resilience, and insight into healthcare, education, and patient care.
I've worked as a nurse, midwife, advanced nurse practitioner, senior lecturer, and co-founder of the Aligned Care Programme. Along the way, I've learned that healthcare training isn't just about clinical expertise — it's about people, inclusivity, leadership, and creating spaces where everyone feels valued and supported.
Today, I design and deliver healthcare consultancy and training programmes that blend real-world clinical insight with empathy and practical tools. My work helps healthcare professionals and non-clinical staff avoid the pitfalls I faced, improve team wellbeing, and thrive in their roles.
I'm especially passionate about equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in healthcare. Whether I'm speaking at national conferences, supporting leaders with staff development, or delivering training for NHS and primary care teams, my aim is the same: to inspire confidence, resilience, and better outcomes for both patients and staff.
Two moments I'll never forget? Publishing my first book — and the day a patient told me my consultation skills had saved his life.
So yes, I'm a rolling stone — but instead of gathering moss, I've gathered the knowledge, care, and intuition that now help others shine.
